Malta to receive €1.3 billion under proposed EU budget

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – The European Parliament has approved a proposed long-term European Union budget for 2028 to 2034 valued at around €2.01 trillion, following an increase of €197.3 billion from the original plan.

Under the proposal, Malta is expected to receive approximately €1.3 billion, placing it among the smallest allocations alongside Luxembourg and Cyprus.

At the opposite end, Poland is set to receive the largest share at €123 billion, significantly ahead of France, which is allocated €90.1 billion.

The funding will be channelled through a new centralised fund covering key sectors including cohesion policy, agriculture, migration and regional development. Additional investment is earmarked for competitiveness, infrastructure and security, with defence-related spending integrated across several programmes.
