VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – International oil major Chevron has secured an exploration study licence from the Maltese Government covering four offshore areas south of the islands, in a move aimed at assessing hydrocarbon potential without immediate drilling.
The agreement, signed on 24 April, covers Areas 1, 4, 5 and 7. Under its terms, Chevron will carry out geological and geophysical desktop studies using existing data. No offshore drilling is planned at this stage.
