DORTMUND (GERMANY) (ITALPRESS) – At just 30 years old, Niklas Süle has decided to call time on his career. The German defender of Borussia Dortmund was pushed into retirement by the knee injury he suffered last month during the match against TSG Hoffenheim.
The former FC Bayern Munich player feared he had torn his cruciate ligament for the third time in his career, but although medical tests later ruled out the worst-case scenario, the fear of another serious injury convinced him to stop playing once and for all.
Süle, who won the Bundesliga five times and the UEFA Champions League in 2020 with Bayern, had been with Borussia Dortmund since 2022 and his contract was due to expire at the end of the season.
