FEZ (MOROCCO) (ITALPRESS) – The Museum of Moroccan Jewish Culture has been inaugurated in Fez, established in the heart of the historic Mellah district at the initiative of King Mohammed VI. Moroccan media reported the event. Among the attendees was Italy’s Ambassador to Morocco, Pasquale Salzano, who took part in the ceremony alongside the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, and Serge Berdugo, President of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish-Moroccan Cultural Heritage.
The museum traces over 2,500 years of Jewish presence in Morocco—a history that forms an integral part of the country’s identity. The contribution of the Jewish community to the national identity is also acknowledged in the preamble to the 2011 Constitution.
“The inauguration,” Salzano noted in a social media post, “holds significance beyond the cultural realm. It bears witness to the Moroccan monarchy’s commitment to protecting and promoting the Kingdom’s diverse religious and cultural components—viewed as a shared asset to be preserved and passed on to future generations.”
