TERESOPOLIS (BRAZIL) (ITALPRESS) – Carlo Ancelotti is keeping Neymar close to him. After long deliberation over his call-up and deciding to include him in the 26-man squad, the Brazilian coach assures that the muscle injury that will sideline the striker for 15-20 days will not change that.
“Before the call-up, we received a statement from Santos that mentioned an edema. We let Santos deal with it until the 27th. The player was called up, and the CBF took charge of the situation from the 27th onwards. We are dealing with his problem,” the Italian coach said.
“We believe he will recover as soon as possible; he is enthusiastic and is training well. To be clear, he will stay with us. We believe he can recover for the first match of the World Cup. If he is not in that match, he will be in the second. We have no doubt that we will not replace anyone. These are the 26 players who will play in the World Cup. Unfortunately, Neymar had this small problem that prevents him from training with the group, but he is working well and will recover soon,” Ancelotti added.
