Szczesny rejects offer from another La Liga club, wants to stay at Barcelona

BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – No, thanks.” That is how Wojciech Szczesny reportedly responded to a proposal for a two-year contract which, according to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, had been offered by a mid-to-upper-table La Liga club.

The intention of the 36-year-old former goalkeeper of AS Roma and Juventus is to remain at FC Barcelona, even in a marginal role, compared to the starting position he held until last season. After coming out of retirement, which he had announced in the summer of 2024, he was called upon to replace the injured Marc-André ter Stegen.

Szczesny still enjoys the trust of coach Hansi Flick, and both he and his family are very happy in Barcelona. His 7-year-old son Liam plays in the club’s youth academy, while his wife Marina can best pursue her career as a singer, reportedly having a recording studio in Barcelona, according to MD.
