ROME (ITALPRESS) – At least 109 people have died and more than 116 are missing following the tragic capsizing of a migrant boat off the coast of Djibouti on the night of October 8–9. The United Nations and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported the incident.

According to accounts provided by survivors, the vessel, which was carrying approximately 350 people, had departed from the coast of Djibouti and was heading towards Yemen.

The boat capsized near Guhere, north of the coastal city of Obock. Among the bodies recovered so far are those of 15 children. Rescue teams and local authorities fear that the death toll could rise in the coming hours as search operations at sea continue.
