LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – From “untouchable” to potentially available on the transfer market. Virgil van Dijk‘s World Cup campaign with the Netherlands ended in the Round of 16 and, according to TEAMtalk, the veteran defender could soon bring his long spell at Liverpool to an end.
The Dutch centre-back, who turns 35 on July 8 and has been with the Reds since 2018, signed a contract extension last year when Arne Slot was in charge. Now, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, Liverpool could be willing to part ways with another senior figure in the Anfield dressing room, having already done so with Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson.
Fueling the speculation is reported interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs, most notably AC Milan, now managed by Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese coach, formerly of Manchester United, is said to be keen on bringing Van Dijk to San Siro, with the club already making initial moves. Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are also reportedly interested, along with several clubs from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer.
