Egypt, minister Badawi to open the MOC 2026 in Alexandria

CAIRO (EGYPT) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi will inaugurate the Mediterranean Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2026) tomorrow at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The event will run until 22 October. Cyprus Energy Minister Michael Damianos will also attend, along with representatives of major international energy companies and leading figures from the oil industry.

Titled “Egypt, a Key Pillar of Energy Security in the Mediterranean”, this year’s edition will focus on accelerating exploration and production activities, deploying advanced technologies, and promoting investment and partnerships in the oil and gas sector.

The opening ceremony is expected to feature the signing of new agreements with US energy company Chevron, in the presence of both ministers, to accelerate the connection of Cyprus’s Aphrodite gas field to Egypt’s infrastructure. The initiative aims to strengthen regional cooperation and reinforce Egypt’s role as a hub for receiving, trading and re-exporting gas to international markets.
