MIAMI (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – Lionel Messi continues to rewrite the history of American soccer. The Argentine superstar, playing for Inter Miami, has won the MLS Golden Boot for the second consecutive year, becoming the first player in the history of the U.S. league to achieve this feat.
The number 10 finished the regular season with 26 goals in 31 appearances, securing his place as the competition’s top scorer. Trailing him were FC Dallas’s Petar Musa—four goals behind—and Nashville’s English forward Sam Surridge, who finished with 21. This marks Messi’s second consecutive win, making him only the sixth player in MLS history to claim the award twice. Previous winners include former Charlton and Southampton striker Bradley Wright-Phillips.
The Argentine’s season was further bolstered by his playmaking contributions; in addition to his 26 goals, he provided 17 assists, bringing his total involvement in the team’s scoring to 43. This tally also earned him the top spot in that specific statistical category for the second season in a row.
