Real Madrid, Asencio convicted after admitting to driving under the influence of alcohol

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Trouble for Raul Asencio. The Real Madrid player was convicted in August of a traffic safety offense after admitting to driving under the influence of alcohol in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the largest municipality on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.

As reported by Atlantico Hoy and subsequently confirmed by AS, the Blancos defender was stopped for a breathalyzer test on the GC-1 highway at kilometer 37.5 in the city of San Bartolomé de Tirajana at 6:30 a.m. on August 16, while driving a Porsche Macan GTS. The player tested positive both on the first and second tests.

After exceeding the legal limit of 0.60 mg/l, Asencio was summoned to a “fast-track trial.” The player admitted to the charges and was fined 14,400 euros — 120 euros per day for four months — and had his driving licence suspended for eight months.
