JOHANNESBURG (SOUTH AFRICA) (ITALPRESS) – Hugo Broos will remain head coach of the South Africa national team. The South African Football Association (SAFA) has issued a statement denying reports that the Belgian manager has resigned.

“This is not the first time he has been linked with a departure immediately after the South African national team achieved a strong result in an international competition. In March 2024, for example, reports claimed he was about to take over as Tunisia’s head coach just weeks after South Africa won the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire,” the SAFA statement read.

The federation added: “Broos returned with the team a few days ago from the FIFA World Cup, where he wrote a new chapter in South African football history. The Bafana Bafana reached the knockout stage for the first time ever. The head coach is currently at his home in Belgium and will return to South Africa later this month.”
