BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of João Cancelo. According to Marca, the Catalan club, currently focused on building its squad for next season, is eager to bring the Portuguese full-back back to Camp Nou.
The team, which will begin pre-season training next Monday, is looking to strengthen several areas of the squad, and the former Inter defender is considered an ideal option thanks to his versatility.
Cancelo, who is currently under contract with Al-Hilal, earns a salary that Barcelona are unable to match. The most realistic scenario is for the player to request to leave the Saudi club, hoping it will facilitate a move back to Spain.
Barcelona remain optimistic about the outcome of the negotiations and are confident they can secure the player’s services for next season. However, the club is also aware that the deal will not be straightforward and could take longer than expected due not only to financial differences but also to tax-related issues.
Cancelo spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona from Al-Hilal.
