Messi the highest-paid player in MLS, salary doubled in three years

NEW YORK (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – Lionel Messi remains the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer. According to data released by the MLS Players Association, the Argentine star of Inter Miami CF earns a guaranteed annual compensation of 28 million dollars (around 24 million euros), nearly double the 17 million dollars he earned in 2025.

Since arriving in the United States in 2023, the Argentine champion’s salary — which initially stood at 12 million dollars — has therefore more than doubled. Income from sponsorships and personal commercial agreements is not included in these figures.

Behind Messi in the salary rankings are Son Heung-min of Los Angeles FC (around 11 million dollars, equivalent to 9.4 million euros) and teammate Rodrigo De Paul (9.6 million dollars). Further down the list is former Bayern Munich player Thomas Müller, now with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, earning more than 5 million dollars per year.
