Keisuke Honda signs for FC Jurong

SINGAPORE (ITALPRESS) – Nearly 40 years old (he’ll celebrate his 40th birthday on June 13) and still eager to play football, Keisuke Honda is back on the pitch. He has signed for FC Jurong (formerly Albirex), a Singapore club that announced his signing for next season (starting in August), explaining that the agreement “goes beyond the simple signing of a player; it aims to create new value for our club and contribute to the further development of the Singapore football community as a whole.”

“I’m turning 40 this year and I’m pursuing several personal challenges, including a Guinness World Record for scoring in the most top-flight domestic championships. However, my main goal with this club is to win the championship. We have a couple of very strong rivals, so it will be a tough challenge, but I’m determined to achieve it,” said the Japanese international, who has 37 goals in 98 appearances for his national team and played at the 2010, 2014, and 2018 World Cups.

During his career, he has played for Nagoya, Venlo, CSKA Moscow, AC Milan (from 2014 to 2017 with 81 appearances and 9 goals), Pachuca, Melbourne, Vitesse, Botafogo, Neftchi Baku, Suduva, and Paro.
