AMSTERDAM (NETHERLANDS) (ITALPRESS) – The Netherlands are preparing for the World Cup and are ready to face friendlies against Norway and Ecuador. Noa Lang hopes to take part at least in the second match scheduled for March 31. In the meantime, he can breathe a sigh of relief about his thumb, which, over time, will return to functioning as it did before Liverpool–Galatasaray, that is, before the accident in which he was an unfortunate protagonist during the Champions League match.
A deep cut, with heavy bleeding and subsequent surgery, occurred after an impact with an advertising board at Anfield. He risked amputation, but the worst is now over. Speaking from the Dutch national team training camp, the Galatasaray winger (on loan in Turkey from Napoli) reassured everyone about his condition:
“My thumb is in bad shape, but it’s still there. The doctors tell me the finger will survive. Of course, at the moment it’s not easy—I can’t play PlayStation, and even going to the bathroom or taking a shower becomes a problem. I hope to play against Ecuador, but there’s no need to take risks; the World Cup is the most important thing.”
Meanwhile, UEFA, Liverpool, and Galatasaray are investigating the incident.
