LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Jean-Philippe Mateta will be missing. The French striker will be absent from Nottingham Forest’s match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, a matchday 24 fixture in the Premier League. There’s no injury, but it’s a clear sign of the transfer market. Juventus has shown strong interest in the player, but Aston Villa has also been interested, and Nottingham Forest (their next opponent) is still interested, but now it’s AC Milan who are most interested.
AC Milan is reportedly very close to the striker, and the English club’s manager, Oliver Glasner, has also made it clear that Mateta won’t be there because, in short, he’s focused elsewhere. “I need players who are in top condition, and he, with all these rumors, isn’t at his best. It could be the rumors, or it could be that a player has personal issues that prevent him from focusing on football, and then it doesn’t make sense to let him play. He can’t help the team and perform at his best. We’ve decided it’s best not to let him play, but at the moment his failure to be called up has nothing to do with transfers,” Glasner explained.
