VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – A severe hailstorm has hit Malta, covering several areas of the island with several centimeters of ice. The most severe conditions were reported in Rabat and Bahrija. Roads in some western areas remained covered in hail for several hours, creating dangerous driving conditions for motorists.
The Department of Civil Protection has urged the public to exercise extreme caution, recommending drivers to reduce speed, avoid unnecessary travel when possible, and remain vigilant in the face of rapidly changing weather conditions.
The Malta Meteorological Service has issued an orange weather alert, warning that severe thunderstorms, gusts of wind, and hail could affect parts of the Maltese archipelago.
