LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – According to information from Football Insider, Chelsea is working on two fronts on the transfer market. The first concerns the head coach, as after the split with Enzo Maresca the club is still searching for a replacement. The leading candidate remains Liam Rosenior, manager of Strasbourg, but the English outlet reports strong interest as well in Newcastle coach Eddie Howe, the 48-year-old who counts Sandro Tonali among his protégés.
That brings us to the second front Chelsea are working on. The Italian national team midfielder, also a target for Juventus, is highly rated by the Blues, who would be ready to open talks not for the winter window, but for June. And if Howe were indeed to arrive on the bench, the London club would have a better chance given the mutual respect between the coach and Tonali.
The former AC Milan player is under contract with the Magpies until the summer of 2029 and, according to Football Insider, there is no intention at St James’ Park to sell him—unless an irresistible offer arrives. The same reasoning, of course, also applies to Juventus.
