Chelsea, Maresca’s future with the club remains uncertain. Xavi among the options

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – In his first season, he won the Conference League and the Club World Cup, guiding the Blues back into the Champions League, and in the current campaign Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League and have reached the EFL Cup semi-finals. Yet Enzo Maresca’s post-Everton outburst (“the last 48 hours have been the worst since I’ve been here because many people did not support either me or the team”) has not been fully put to rest.

The future of the Italian coach at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain: on the one hand, the club’s hierarchy were unhappy with his remarks, while on the other Maresca himself could decide to step aside. That is why the Blues are said to be sounding out alternatives in the event of a split. According to Football Insider, one of the main options in the event of a managerial change would be Xavi, who has been without a club since May 2024 following the end of his spell at Barcelona and who reportedly turned down Spartak Moscow last month in the hope of a call from the Premier League.
