LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – English football, and West Ham in particular, are mourning the death of Billy Bonds, who passed away this morning at the age of 79. Bonds is the club’s all-time appearance record holder (799 matches played) and captained the London side to FA Cup triumphs in 1975 and 1980. He spent 21 years as a player with the Hammers, from 1967 to 1988, and later managed the club from 1990 to 1994.
“Dad loved West Ham United and its wonderful fans with all his heart, and he treasured every moment of his time at the club,” his family wrote in a statement. “He will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed. It brings us comfort to know that his legacy will live on forever.”
