According to L’Equipe, during a hearing before the Paris Labor Court, the club has filed a claim for compensation of approximately €240 million against the player.
According to the French champions’ lawyers, the player is guilty of financial damages to the club when he refused a 2023 transfer to Al-Hilal, who had offered €300 million. PSG’s request is in response to the €260 million requested by the Real Madrid striker due to his contractual situation and for alleged moral damages.
In the evening, PSG issued a statement in which, referring to today’s hearing, it claims to have presented evidence “showing that the player acted unfairly, concealing for almost eleven months, between July 2022 and June 2023, his decision not to renew his contract, thus depriving the club of any possibility of arranging a transfer.” PSG also recalled that “for over a year, it did everything possible to reach an amicable solution that would allow all parties to move forward, in accordance with the cooperative and trusting relationship that must exist between a club and its player. Despite these repeated efforts, Mr. Mbappé has continually attacked the club at every opportunity, including through the proceedings initiated today — a regrettable situation both for the player himself and for French football.” A verdict is expected on December 16.
