ROME (ITALPRESS) – Rodri will not play against his former club. The Spanish midfielder will not play in the Champions League match between Villarreal and Manchester City on Tuesday at La Ceramica. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, City manager Pep Guardiola announced, has not yet fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained in the 2-0 win against Brentford on October 5.
“It’s not a long-term sideline, but given that it’s a muscular problem, we have to be careful,” Guardiola explained. The English club’s caution stems from Rodri’s history, having ruptured his cruciate ligaments last November, immediately after the Ballon d’Or ceremony, and subsequently missed most of the 2024-25 season.
