BARCELONA (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – “I believe the Ballon d’Or is the award that rewards the best player of the year—a player who stands apart, someone who is a joy to watch, the kind of player for whom you tune in to a match. It has nothing to do with the number of goals scored or anything else. When I think of the Ballon d’Or, I think of Messi, Ronaldinho, and players like that—players who are unique, who make you smile when you watch them play.” In an interview with “L’Équipe”, Lamine Yamal highlights his case for the prestigious award presented by France Football.
“Anyone who follows football already knows my credentials. I step onto the pitch, I have fun, I play well, and I play the way I want to play. Fortunately, I’ve also been able to win many titles with Barça and, recently, the most important title of all: the World Cup with my national team. But above all else, I believe my style of play is my strongest argument and what sets me apart.”
Yamal is aware of the competition. “We all have very strong cases; we are all great players. We’ll see. They are all immense players. In my case, the advantage is that I was able to win the World Cup this year, and naturally, that gives me an extra edge.”
