VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Twenty people in Malta died from illnesses or conditions directly or indirectly linked to extreme heat during a single week in July, health authorities have confirmed.
The deaths occurred between July 20 and 26, when temperatures across the country exceeded 40°C. A total of 108 deaths were recorded among Maltese and Gozitan residents that week.
The victims, aged between 55 and 89, mostly had pre-existing medical conditions that were believed to have been worsened by the heat.
