ROME (ITALPRESS) – Jurgen Klopp is in talks with the German Football Association (DFB) about becoming Germany’s national coach. The former Liverpool manager himself confirmed the news, declaring he has “rediscovered” the energy he had lacked since leaving the Reds.
“Julian (Nagelsmann, ed.) has resigned, and the federation is working on a succession plan and has contacted me as part of these discussions,” Klopp told German broadcaster Magenta TV from New York, where he is working as a World Cup pundit. “About two years ago, I left Liverpool, saying I didn’t have the energy for another job or another year with Liverpool. Since then, I’ve recharged and I’m ready,” he added.
Germany has failed to reach the round of 16 of the last three World Cups: “German football is clearly at a turning point,” Klopp said. “Now we have to change things radically. Whether it ultimately falls to me or anyone else, that doesn’t change the fact that changes are necessary.”
