ABAT (MOROCCO) (ITALPRESS) – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and the Italian shipping company GNV (part of the MSC Group) are strengthening their partnership through a three-year agreement aimed at boosting tourism flows and maritime travel between Morocco and Italy.
According to the Moroccan news site Le360, the deal was signed in Rabat during GNV’s annual convention, held in Marrakech from October 2 to 5. The agreement aims to increase the number of passengers traveling from Italy to Morocco to 350,000 by enhancing destination promotion and maritime connections. Italy is a strategic market for Moroccan tourism; in 2025, 1.15 million Italian tourists visited the Kingdom, with 15% arriving by sea.
The new plan includes joint campaigns across Italian media, digital channels, and GNV’s travel agency network, alongside promotional initiatives on board the ships.
Special emphasis will be placed on new forms of tourism—ranging from road trips to ecotourism—highlighting the option for travelers to reach Morocco in their own vehicles and explore the country’s diverse regions.
The partnership will also support the travel needs of the large Moroccan community residing in Italy, particularly within the framework of “Operation Marhaba.”
This agreement solidifies a cooperation that had already been bolstered by the entry into service of the GNV Aurora, a vessel dedicated to routes serving Morocco. GNV considers the Kingdom one of the most strategic markets in its Mediterranean network and has further strengthened the routes between Genoa, Barcelona, and Tangier Med for 2026. The new agreement thus confirms the growing importance of the Morocco-Italy axis within the Mediterranean, making maritime connectivity a further tool to boost tourism, mobility, and trade between the two shores.
