Libya, Italy takes center stage at Benghazi International Fair dedicated to the reconstruction of the city

TRIPOLI (LIBYA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) — Italy played a leading role today in Benghazi, where the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the international fair dedicated to the reconstruction of the city.

The Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce brought together more than 40 leading Italian companies, professionals and organizations, making it the largest delegation among all the foreign delegations attending.

The event, promoted by Belqasim Haftar, director of the Libyan Fund for Development and Reconstruction, drew strong participation from businesses and the public, with hundreds of exhibitors from around the world.

Particular attention was devoted to the reconstruction of Benghazi’s historic city center, which was designed and built by Italians in the last century and later destroyed during recent armed conflicts.

Nicola Colicchi, president of the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce, and director Francesco Muraca coordinated the Italian participation. The event marks Benghazi’s entry onto the international stage of economic and trade relations and represents an important opportunity to renew the bonds of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Italy and Libya.

Organizers described the event as a historic opportunity for the city’s rebirth.
