ROME (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood were at the center of a negative incident following the Lyon vs. Fenerbahçe match—a Champions League playoff tie won by the Turkish side. UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings regarding the conduct of the former Lazio player and the player long pursued by Roma— both currently playing for Fenerbahçe. The two face accusations of sparking a mass brawl after the final whistle.
The Turkish club was quick to respond: “Following the Champions League playoff return leg, UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against our players Guendouzi and Greenwood, as well as against our club. Our club will present its defense to the competent UEFA bodies to protect the rights and interests of our players and Fenerbahçe. All necessary information, documents, and arguments will be submitted to UEFA.”
