ROME (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Following Lionel Messi’s farewell to the Albiceleste, Argentina is responding to the champion this week by paying a fitting tribute to “its” star. The Argentine Football Association has decreed that all men’s and women’s teams—across 11-a-side, futsal, and beach soccer—must pause play at the 10th minute of every match to dedicate a minute of applause to Messi. The first game to feature this tribute to the Argentine star was the Velez vs. Boca Juniors match (held overnight Italian time). Footage of the applause from both the pitch and the stands has gone viral online.
