TRIPOLI (ITALPRESS) – Dozens of citizens took to the streets of the Libyan capital Tripoli yesterday to protest the ongoing power blackouts that are paralyzing the country. Over the past 24 hours, the western region has experienced repeated total blackouts due to the failure of several generation units and power plants.
As a result, public water supplies from the “Great Man-Made River” have been cut off in most cities and regions, exacerbating the crisis. Libyans have been experiencing a severe energy crisis for nearly two months due to grid deficits, with scheduled power outages lasting several hours each day. The government has yet to provide a solution to the crisis.
