Shakhtar Donetsk want to play their Champions League home games at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Shakhtar Donetsk is dreaming of Stamford Bridge. Unable to use the Donbass Arena since 2014 and forced to play domestic home matches between Kyiv and Lviv—and European fixtures across Germany, Slovenia, and Poland—the Ukrainian club is reportedly considering playing its upcoming Champions League matches at Chelsea’s home ground, according to BBC Sport.

Negotiations are said to be underway; with a capacity of 40,000, Stamford Bridge represents the ideal choice compared to Fulham’s Craven Cottage or Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium—other venues under consideration but with smaller capacities. Shakhtar and Chelsea enjoy an excellent relationship, thanks to the Mudryk transfer (signed by the Blues in 2023) and the “Game4Ukraine” charity match. The Stamford Bridge option has emerged because Chelsea failed to qualify for European competitions this season, and Shakhtar hopes to draw many of the 32,000 London residents of Ukrainian origin to the games.
