Malta reaffirms support for UN roadmap in Libya talks

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Malta’s Ambassador to Libya, Franklin J. Aquilina, joined fellow European Union ambassadors in Libya for a high-level meeting with the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna S. Tetteh.

The meeting focused on ongoing international efforts to support political stability and reconciliation in Libya, amid renewed calls for a unified political process.

During the discussions, Ambassador Aquilina reiterated Malta’s strong backing for the United Nations-led mediation efforts aimed at advancing peace and long-term stability in the North African country.

He also reaffirmed Malta’s support for the implementation of the UNSMIL roadmap, which seeks to promote national dialogue, strengthen institutions, and facilitate an inclusive political process.

The meeting underscored the European Union’s continued commitment to working closely with the United Nations and Libyan stakeholders to help restore stability and democratic governance in Libya.
