Valletta’s Grand Harbour named world’s most beautiful cruise port

VALLETTA (MALTA) (MNA/ITALPRESS) – Valletta’s Grand Harbour has been crowned the world’s most beautiful cruise port, earning a perfect score of 100 in a global eye-tracking study. The research which was commissioned by UK-based AllClear Travel Insurance, monitored how quickly and how long people fixated on images of different ports, ranked Valletta Cruise Port first for visual appeal.

Its golden limestone, 16th-century bastions and pedestrian-friendly waterfront were credited as standout features. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Grand Harbour has long been celebrated for its striking architecture and deep cultural history. Researchers highlighted how its scenic location and historic fortifications make it one of the most memorable arrivals for cruise passengers worldwide.

The study noted that ports blending heritage with easy access to landmarks ranked highest. Vallettàs harbourfront, lined with cafes and attractions, added to its strong showing. Argentinàs Port of Ushuaia, gateway to Antarctica, took second place, while Italy’s Port of Palermo ranked third. Stockholm, Nassau, Aruba and Lisbon also featured in the top ten.

Over half of the 20 highest-scoring ports were in Europe, with others from the Bahamas, South Africa, Oman, Mexico and Australia. Researchers concluded that ports offering dramatic views and a direct link into historic city centres left the most lasting impression on visitors.
