It is already a very strong team, but some changes will be needed with the departures of Robertson and Salah.” Arne Slot is already looking ahead to next season, where, in his view, Liverpool will not need major upheavals in the squad to aim to return to winning ways.
“How many signings are needed? I wouldn’t make it a question of quantity but of roles. We need to see what happens in the summer and then we’ll better understand what will be necessary. Last year we made quite a few signings. In the four transfer windows since I’ve been here, we have a net spend of around £150 million, I believe. This shows what kind of club we are. We know that Robertson and Salah will leave, so they are two players who need to be replaced. There is also Konaté’s contract situation (expiring in June, ed.), so there may not be a big need to make many moves unless a lot of players leave.”
