Ruud van Nistelrooy to rejoin Dutch national team as assistant coach

AMSTERDAM (NETHERLANDS) (ITALPRESS) – Ruud van Nistelrooy returns to the national team. The 49-year-old former Dutch striker will be part of Ronald Koeman’s coaching staff starting February 1, joining his other two assistants, Erwin Koeman and Wim Jonk. Former assistant coach from 2014 to 2016 and then at the 2021 European Championships, the Dutch football legend has won 70 caps and scored 35 goals for the national team as a player.

“It’s a great honor for me to return to represent the Netherlands in this role, with this staff, and with this talented team. It’s a huge honor and a wonderful challenge for me, and the fact that the World Cup will be in June makes it all the more special. Thanks to my experience in various roles, including assistant, I know this position is perfect for me. I can’t wait to make my contribution and contribute to a successful tournament for the Netherlands.”

“Ruud has shown that, with his style and vision of football, he can truly add value to our staff,” said coach Koeman. “He understands the rules of top-level football and brings valuable tournament experience, both as a player and as a coach. Furthermore, with his personality and approach, he integrates well with both the rest of the staff and the players.”
