Raphinha criticizes referees after Barcelona’s Champions elimination “It was a robbery”

MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – Controversy follows Atlético Madrid’s Madrid-Barcelona match. Raphinha, out injured, was with the team at the Metropolitano and exploded in the mixed zone after the match: “It was a robbery. Making a mistake is human, but for it to happen again in the second match? We played very well, but they stole this qualification from us.”

The Brazilian is targeting the referee, who, like in the first leg, penalized Barça, who, according to him, were unable to overturn a 2-1 defeat at Camp Nou: “The decisions the referee made are incredible. Atlético committed I don’t know how many fouls and didn’t even show a yellow. I really want to understand why he was afraid that Barça could advance.” Among other things, Raphinha was taunted by the home crowd at the final whistle and had responded with gestures implying that Atlético would be eliminated in the semifinals.

These comments and behavior could now land him a suspension of up to three matches, to be served next season: there’s the precedent of Neymar, who in 2019, after attacking the PSG-Manchester United referee on Instagram, was sanctioned by UEFA with three matches, later reduced to two by the CAS.
