ROME (ITALPRESS) – The 26th edition of “Caftan Week,“ an event dedicated to the valorization of the Moroccan caftan and the Kingdom’s artisanal heritage, concluded in Marrakech. This year, the theme was “The Breath of the Atlas.”
For four days, the event celebrated the Moroccan caftan as a symbol of identity, culture, and creativity, highlighting the work of artisans, designers, and young talents committed to transmitting ancestral knowledge. This edition took on a special significance, being the first held since the Moroccan caftan was inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The Atlas Mountains were at the heart of the event’s artistic inspiration, evoked not only as a natural landscape but also as a collective memory and a living source of traditions, colors, materials, and artisanal techniques passed down from generation to generation. Great attention was also paid to the younger generations through the “Jeunes Talents” fashion show, won by young designer Mariam El Kaflaoui, who received a check for 30,000 dirhams (approximately $3,000) and the opportunity to participate in the official Caftan 2027 fashion show.
During the final evening, a special tribute was paid to Moroccan artisans, described by the event’s promoters as the “silent guardians” of essential knowledge for preserving the authenticity of the Moroccan caftan.
With this new edition, Caftan Week confirms its role as a “cultural and creative platform dedicated to promoting Moroccan heritage, contributing to strengthening the caftan’s international prestige as a symbol of Moroccan elegance, identity, and modernity”.
