ROME (ITALPRESS) – After the defeat in Finland in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and in the midst of the Lewandowski case, Poland coach Michal Probierz has decided to say enough. The national coach has in fact resigned, as announced by the Polish Football Federation. After losing the captain’s armband by decision of the coach himself, the striker and symbol of Poland, Robert Lewandowski, announced that he would no longer wear the national team’s jersey as long as Probierz was in charge. Today the resignation and the letter to the Polish people of the now ex-coach arrived.
“I have come to the conclusion that, in the current situation, the best decision for the good of the national team is to resign from my position as coach. Carrying out this role has represented the realization of my professional dreams and the greatest honor of my life – said Michal Probierz -. I would like to thank all the employees of the Football Federation. I have always been able to count on each of them, I thank the president and the board of directors of the Federation for their trust”.
“Of course,” Probierz added, “I would also like to thank all the players I have had the pleasure of meeting on this journey. I keep my fingers crossed for all of you, because the national team is our common good. I would also like to thank our wonderful fans. You have always been with us through thick and thin. Wherever the national team has played, your support has been invaluable.”
For its part, the Polish Football Federation “thanks coach Michal Probierz for his cooperation and commitment to managing the national team and wishes him success in his future professional career.”
Probierz leaves Poland with the team in second place in Group G of the World Cup qualifiers with 6 points from 3 games, 1 point behind leaders Finland (7 points from 4 games) and alongside the Netherlands with full points after two games.
