ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I am very satisfied with the results of this summit, with the quality of the agreements we have reached—some of which have been showcased during this ceremony. At the conclusion of this part of our intergovernmental summit, we will head together to wrap up the Business Forum,” said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during a joint statement with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of the fifth intergovernmental summit between the two countries.
“At the Business Forum, there are over 300 companies present, demonstrating the growing interconnection between our economies,” Meloni added. “Around 40 agreements will be signed today between our two nations and our respective production systems. It’s not just about the numbers,” she continued.
“These are agreements that allow us to say that the friendship between our two nations has never been so special, reaching a level of solidity never seen before. For us, Algeria is a truly strategic partner,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Algeria is one of the key partners in the Mattei Plan, “which aims to bring structure and depth to a model of cooperation that is not exploitative, but rather equal and beneficial for all,” Meloni said. “Italy and Algeria have demonstrated this relationship many times, especially in times of difficulty.”
“Energy is one of the most solid areas of cooperation between Italy and Algeria. Italy wants to become an energy hub in the Mediterranean, and without collaboration with Algeria, we could not pursue that goal. We are pleased with the Eni-Sonatrach cooperation, which will become even stronger with the agreements signed. We will continue to work together on new energy and digital corridors,” she added.
