Media, Super League and Real Madrid demand €4.5 billion in compensation from UEFA

MADRID (SPAIN) (ITALPRESS) – A compensation claim of over 4.5 billion euros. As anticipated by Florentino Pérez during Real Madrid’s assembly meeting, the club and the Super League have initiated legal action against UEFA, demanding a massive indemnity. According to As, A22 — the company tasked with carrying the project forward — has also sent a letter to UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, urging him to comply with the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union and to approve the Super League.

Already in December of last year, A22 had requested official recognition of the Unify League (the new name of the competition), and now, bolstered by the late-October ruling of the Provincial Court of Madrid — which rejected the appeal filed by UEFA, La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation, once again siding with the Super League and deeming that UEFA may be guilty of “abuse of dominant position in European football competitions” — the company has renewed its efforts.

In the letter, A22 notes that it attempted in vain to reach an agreement with Nyon.

“Despite our substantial concessions, no agreement has been reached. Consequently, we reiterate our request for official recognition by UEFA of our proposal as soon as possible and, in any case, no later than 8 weeks from the date of this letter.” The letter details the negotiations and accuses UEFA of stalling to delay the launch of the Super League. Hence the request for compensation, though without giving up on the creation of the competition.
