MANCHESTER (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Manchester City are preparing to bring James Trafford, the 23-year-old England goalkeeper and Under-21 international, back to the Etihad. Sold to Burnley in the summer of 2023 for £19 million, Trafford was instrumental in the Clarets’ return to the Premier League last season, keeping 29 clean sheets in 45 games.
At the time, City had secured a buyback option, with the option to match any offers that came in for the goalkeeper, and so it happened: after Newcastle offered £27 million (approximately €31 million), the Citizens followed suit, and Trafford preferred the offer from Manchester over that of the Magpies. The 22-year-old English goalkeeper, ready to sign a five-year contract and compete with Ederson for a starting spot, would be Guardiola’s sixth summer signing after Reijnders, Cherki, Nypan, Ait-Nouri, and Bettinelli.
