MANCHESTER (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Michael Carrick will be Manchester United’s new manager until June, replacing the dismissed Ruben Amorim. For the 44-year-old former midfielder—who made 464 appearances as a player and won five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Champions League, one Europa League, and one Club World Cup—this marks a return. After retiring in 2018, he joined the coaching staff of first Mourinho and then Solskjaer, taking charge of the Red Devils on an interim basis following the Norwegian’s dismissal for three games before Rangnick’s arrival. He then coached Middlesbrough from October 2022 until June of last year.
“Having the responsibility of leading Manchester United is an honor,” Carrick said. “I know what it takes to be successful here. My focus now is on helping the players reach the standards we expect at this extraordinary club, standards we know this group is more than capable of delivering. I have complete faith in their talent; there’s still a lot to strive for this season.” Wayne Rooney, who had been rumored to return, is currently not among the team’s staff.
