VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – Malta’s Health Ministry has issued an excessive heat warning as the island braces for a scorching heatwave starting Tuesday, with “feels-like” temperatures expected to hit 42°C.
The Met Office has issued a red alert, warning that the heat will peak on Tuesday and Friday, while remaining dangerously high on Wednesday and Thursday. The apparent temperatures during this period are forecast to range between 41°C and 42°C.
Health authorities are urging the public to take urgent precautions, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and people with health conditions. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak hours, keep hydrated, and avoid direct sun exposure.
