Liverpool’s never-ending crisis, Slot: “It’s a difficult situation, but I feel the club’s confidence.”

LIVERPOOL (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – A resounding defeat. It can happen to even the greats, but if the debacle comes at a terrible time, then it’s a red flag. Red like Liverpool, red like their record of nine defeats in their last 12 games, with a historic record of three consecutive defeats by three or more goals conceded: something that hadn’t happened in 72 years. Against PSV Eindhoven, on Matchday 5 of the Champions League, a 4-1 home defeat escalated the situation.

The British press was harsh on Arne Slot, but the harshest and most explicit comment, which nevertheless captures the moment, came from Curtis Jones, a Liverpool midfielder and a son of Anfield. “It’s simply unacceptable. I’m speechless and I can’t find the answers. I can only say that we’re in the shit… It’s particularly difficult for me. I play for the club I’ve always supported, and I haven’t seen the team achieve these results in a long time,” said the 24-year-old England international.

The Reds’ crisis is truly inexplicable. Diogo Jota’s drama may have sapped the team’s serenity and focus, but the season had started strongly, then the dramatic decline.

Amid all this, Arne Slot’s position, according to the British press, is beginning to falter despite last season’s triumph, the first post-Klopp season. “I feel safe, I’m calm because I feel the club’s support,” the Dutch coach said. “Obviously, we need to change course. We need a win to restart and find ourselves again. Then I understand everything. When things aren’t going well, it’s normal for doubts and rumors to surround the manager. It’s not the first time I’ve faced situations like this, and I know we can get through this.”
