LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Crystal Palace is taking a step towards Europe. At the beginning of the month, the club – which by winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City had earned a place in the next Europa League – had been received by UEFA regarding multi-club ownership rules that put their participation in the cups at risk.
John Textor holds 43% of the club but is also a majority shareholder of Lyon, which will play in the Europa League next season. Not even the hypothesis of relegation to the Conference was feasible: David Blitzer owns shares in both the English club and Broendby, and UEFA in these cases gives priority to the team that has placed better in the championship, it would be the Danes who play in the third continental competition.
But Crystal Palace may have solved the problem: american billionaire Woody Johnson agreeing to buy John Textor’s 43% stake in the club, an investment of over 220 million euros, according to BBC.
