Italian-Led Consortium among bidders for Malta’s offshore wind project

VALLETTA (MALTA) (ITALPRESS/MNA) – An Italian company, GreenIT SpA, is leading one of the consortiums that have shown interest in developing Malta’s first offshore renewable energy project. The Atlas Med Wind consortium, which includes Seatrans Shipping Ltd, Central European Advisors Ltd, and CI V Transfer Coöperatief U.A., is among three bidders.
The second consortium, Code Zero, is led by SEP (Malta) Holding Ltd in partnership with Kornelio Energy 1 Limited, M. Demajo (Holdings) Limited, and NMK Renewables Limited.

A separate submission was made by Greek firm MCKEDRIK Sole Member Ltd.
Energy Minister Miriam Dalli said the project has moved beyond the exploratory stage and now enters an active development phase. The 300MW wind farm will be located outside Malta’s territorial waters and includes plans for a government-owned substation and export cable system.

The concession will be awarded through a competitive dialogue process. No financial offers have yet been submitted; only companies that pass the current evaluation phase will be invited to place bids in the next stage, expected early next year.
Interconnect Malta CEO Ismail D’Amato called the project a “key component” of Malta’s National Energy and Climate Plan.
