CAIRO (EGYPT) (ITALPRESS) – Egypt has welcomed 13.6 million tourists between the start of the year and mid-September, with the government aiming to reach the 20-million mark by the end of 2026. This was reported by the Egyptian newspaper ‘Al Shorouk’, citing statements made by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, on the sidelines of the Al Ahram Tourism Forum hosted by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.
Fathy emphasized that diversifying the tourism offering is a key strength for Egypt as a destination, highlighting the potential of cultural, beach, leisure, and desert tourism.
The minister also outlined efforts to modernize tourism promotion through new technologies and artificial intelligence, and underscored the need to attract further investment—particularly in the hotel sector—to expand accommodation capacity and support the projected growth in visitor numbers.
