Crystal Palace appeal against demotion from the Europa League to the Conference League

LONDON (ENGLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Crystal Palace has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport following the club’s relegation from the Europa League to the Conference League. In recent weeks, UEFA issued this sanction because the English club violated rules on multiple club ownership, as American businessman John Textor owns a share in the club and is the majority owner of Lyon, which also qualified for the Europa League.

Currently, based on UEFA’s decision, Nottingham Forest is expected to replace Crystal Palace. In its appeal, Crystal Palace has requested the annulment of the UEFA Financial Control Body’s decision and readmission to the Europa League. A decision is expected by August 11, while the Europa League group stage begins on September 24.
