Argentina returns home without Messi, a warm welcome

BUENOS AIRES (ARGENTINA) (ITALPRESS) – The Argentina national team received a resounding welcome back home, returning to Buenos Aires on a charter flight from New York after losing the 2026 World Cup final to Spain. Crowds lined the highway and accompanied the players’ open-top bus on the journey from the airport to the Argentina Football Federation’s training center.

Leo Messi was absent, but coach Lionel Scaloni was among the most enthusiastic, even singing along with the fans. With fireworks, banners, and chants, the welcome was triumphant for the visibly emotional players in attendance. Among them were Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, Juan Musso, Nicolás Otamendi, Lisandro Martínez, Nicolás Tagliafico, Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Senesi, Valentín Barco, Leandro Paredes, Alexis Mac Allister, Exequiel Palacios, Giovani Lo Celso, Thiago Almada, Cristian Medina, Nicolás González and José Manuel López.
